What about a cardboard aeroplane?

Our cardboard toys come supplied flat packed in protective outer layers for future use. Cardboard has been recognised in the packaging and promotional industries for years as a tough, durable and biodegradable product. In an age where parents are becoming increasingly aware of the ethics and chemicals behind the materials used in children’s toys, cardboard is able to tick some important boxes. It is manufactured from a natural product, which, in its raw (brown) state, is free from bleaching chemicals, free from plastics, sourced from recycled materials, and is biodegradable. So it may not be so surprising for us to now see it being used in the manufacture of toys and furniture for both children and adults. This is not a new concept but it has certainly been brought into the 21st century with a new twist. Organic shapes, child friendly designs and basic assembly make these products great for children and their parents. In a recent article in the Observer (May 2005) Lucy Siegle describes well the fact that “ They provide a welcome alternative when the global toy cupboard is not all that innocent".
