Price reduced to only £7.50! Colourful wool felt childrens' bags. These bags are 17 cm (7 inches) square and come in a selection of lovely colours. With three removable animal inserts, these felt bags are suitable for young children. They are made by BAFTs fair trade supplier, a small co-operative of women in Kathmandu, Nepal. The co-operative teaches under-privileged women, widows and disabled persons for free, then employs them at a good wage on a "need" basis that gives them self reliance and independence.

Felt making is a time consuming process using all natural materials. The wool, which comes from Nepal, India, China and Russia is dyed and made into narrow strips. It is then soaked in water and laid over a form, building up a thickness of 20-30 layers, using lots of soap and water. The item is then dried and finished with decoration and lining. The resulting felt is extremely strong, wear resistant and the colours are run free and fixed.
